I wonder if what we are seeing is continuation of the anti-social Norfolk brethren, religiosity, the American right-wing neo-Anarchism and weakness of famial binding to a place/area. I wonder if these folk are all white? If so what an odd phenomen to bind into a culture where you are all scared of Black mysterious figures. Fab podcast. Highly reccomended and she does have a nice reading voice and brogue.

Great series. I have no idea whether this is written by a talented story writer or whether the young lady is doing as she says and collecting stories other people’s stories but it is a fascinating glimpse into a developing, uniquely American, mythos. It seems to me that these stories are characterised by unknowable figures and imps, dark looming men and black eyed children. They seem to reflect that uniquely hostile sceptical attitude to power and leaders one sees in the USA.
